About Matt
Matt has loved cars and racing almost since he could first walk and talk. He is so passionate about the sport, he has become a virtual walking encyclopedia with anything that relates to racing. He began racing quarter midgets in 2007. From the very first day of novice training, you could see the focus and drive he had to become a competitive racecar driver.
Matt has worked hard to develop his skills and it is obvious he has been successful in that endeavor. He consistently runs in the top of his class wherever he races. He takes pride in learning as much as he can about how a racecar works. He uses his knowledge to work on and maintain his racecar and his younger brother’s car as well. Matt hopes to continue racing for a long time and maybe even make a career out of it someday.
Matthew has always proven himself to be a model student in school and a goal oriented individual. He is overall well rounded and well liked by his peers and teachers. Just this past year he was specially selected into an exclusive program that is sponsored by the President of the United States called “People to People.” After a rigorous interview and application process, he was selected to represent the United States in an ambassadorial role to Japan. It was truly an amazing opportunity for Matt.
Since 2002, Matt has studied and trained in the martial art called Chitoryu. He has shown great leadership in this endeavor. He was asked to be a part of the “Leadership Program,” which is a program that takes exemplary students and trains them how to lead and teach others. In 2005, Matt reached a goal that many dream of, but few actually attain. After several years of intense training, Matt became a black belt in the martial arts. It was truly a pinnacle moment for him as he proved to himself that he could do anything he set his mind to.
Matthew has raced competitively in quarter midgets since January 2007. He has raced in three different classes including Senior Novice, Heavy Honda, and World Formula. He has won many races and acquired a roomful of trophies during that time. He has proven that his love for the sport is equaled only by his ability to drive a racecar. He is currently testing and preparing to race in the Florida Mini-Sprint race series beginning in the winter of 2008. This series has tracks all over Florida including Ocala, Lake City, Tampa, and Clewiston.
